Holi 2027: The Purnima and the Next Morning
Holika Dahan 2027 is the Phalguna Purnima evening, listed as 21 or 22 March. Colours are the next morning, 22 or 23 March. Follow the sunset tithi.

Holi is two rites. Holika Dahan is the bonfire on Phalguna Purnima evening. The colours are the morning after. In 2027 one almanac puts the fire on Sunday 21 March and the colours on Monday 22 March. Another puts the fire on the 22nd and the colours on Tuesday 23 March. The quarrel is the purnima at sunset.
A lane in Mathura will light the fire when the moon is up and the tithi is purnima, and will throw colour when that night is over. If your housing society prints a single “Holi timing” for a DJ, that timing is a booking, not a tithi. Keep the fire with the moon. Let the DJ be a DJ.
A full moon, then a new year in some states
Phalguna Purnima is Chandra’s night, the last full moon before Chaitra in the amanta reckoning used in much of the west and south. Ugadi and Gudi Padwa come with the next shukla pratipada, in early April 2027, not the morning of Holi. Do not merge them. Guru is still retrograde in Karka. A Holi reconciliation is a conversation. A partnership deed signed because everyone is in colour is a Budha matter for a sober weekday.
The spring full moon also sits near Easter in 2027, which is a different calendar using a different full moon. That comparison is Easter and the Phalguna moon.
