Maha Shivaratri 2028 Is 23 February
Maha Shivaratri 2028 is Wednesday 23 February. The vigil is nishita. Shani’s longer Mesha stay is nearby, and it is still Shiva’s fast.

Maha Shivaratri 2028 is Wednesday 23 February. The chaturdashi that holds midnight is the vigil. Lists agree more tightly than they did for some other festivals: the night of the 23rd.
Around the same week Shani takes up sidereal Mesha for the longer stay, after the back-and-forth of 2027. A mind that likes to stack omens will call the vigil a Shani night. It is a Shiva night that happens to fall near a slow ingress. Keep them apart. Stay awake for nishita. Offer the Saturday sesame on Saturday.
The sky can be busy and the rite simple
Guru in early 2028 is moving between Simha and Kanya, including a retrograde slip back toward Simha. You do not need that paragraph to keep a fast your house already knows. You need it if someone is selling a gemstone “because Shivaratri and Saturn coincide.” They do not coincide as one ritual. The June 2027 note on Shani is Shani’s first step into Mesha.
