Sharad Navratri 2027 begins around Wednesday 30 September with Ghatasthapana. Dussehra falls on Saturday 9 October in many lists, with some eastern reckonings holding visarjan on the 10th. The nine nights have shifted later than a tidy “October Navratri” memory of 2026, because the lunar year does not repeat a civil date.

The sky is not last year’s sky. In autumn 2026 Shukra was vakri in Tula and Guru was exalted in Karka. In autumn 2027 Guru is direct in Simha, and around 26 November he will enter Kanya, his neecha. Shani is in Mesha, having stepped there in June, though he slips back to Meena around 20 October, just after Dussehra. So Vijayadashami 2027 sits near a Saturn sign change in the other direction. Do not recycle last year’s remedy note. Read this year’s panchang.

Keep the kalash, drop the superstition about dates

The vrata is the same shape: nine nights, then dashami. The grahas standing around it are not a curse on the kalash. If a marriage is being parked “until after Dussehra,” park it until a real muhurat, not until a feeling. Last year’s Navratri note is Navratri 2026, useful as a contrast, not as a template.

Questions people keep asking

When is Dussehra in 2027?

9 October 2027 in many North Indian lists, 10 October where dashami holds the next sunrise. Follow the city of the rite.

Is Venus retrograde again?

Not as the frame of this Navratri. The 2026 retrograde was a different season. Check a current panchang before you import it.
