Karwa Chauth 2026 Breaks at Moonrise
Karwa Chauth 2026 is 29 October in India and often 28 October abroad. The fast ends at local moonrise. Venus is still retrograde. The vow stays.

Karwa Chauth in India is Thursday 29 October 2026. The fast breaks at moonrise, and moonrise is a city time, not a national one. In the US and Canada many families keep the fast on the 28th. Shukra is still vakri in Tula that night, and Budha has been vakri in the same sign since 24 October.
A woman in Chandigarh has the sieve, the story, and a sister on the phone from New Jersey who will look at the moon a night earlier. That is not a mistake in devotion. The tithi and the local moonrise move together. What does not move is the vow. A retrograde is a poor reason to skip a fast the household already keeps, and a fair reason to leave a new gold set for after 13 November.
Shukra’s night, not Shukra’s shopping list
Tula is Shukra’s own sign. Vakri there revisits agreements and the money spent to feel accompanied. Karwa Chauth is a vow about a marriage that already exists. The sieve, the moon, the first sip: those stay. The carat weight bought because the shop was bright can wait until both Shukra and Budha are direct.
Guru enters Simha two days later, on 31 October. Do not stack the fast, the moon, and a “Jupiter change” purchase into one evening. The fast has a clock. The ingress has another. They are written apart in Guru’s entry into Simha and Shukra vakri in Tula.
If the question under the fast is the marriage itself, the Moon sign and the 7th house still decide more than the vrata. A free Kundli and marriage prediction from Kundli belong after the moon has been seen, not instead of it.
Questions people keep asking
What time does Karwa Chauth end?
At moonrise in your city on 29 October 2026 in India. Diaspora lists often use 28 October. Use the moon you can see.
Is the fast cancelled because Venus is retrograde?
No. Keep the vow. Postpone a new luxury purchase until about 13 November, when Venus and Mercury are both direct.
