Rahu enters sidereal Capricorn, and Ketu enters Cancer, around 5–6 December 2026. Through all of October, and through November, Rahu is still in Aquarius and Ketu is still in Leo. That axis has been in place since the nodes changed signs in 2025. A line that puts Rahu in Taurus for October 2026 is describing a different sky. The sign change people will actually live through is this December one, and it lasts about eighteen months.
These dates follow mean Rahu, the node of classical Jyotish. A panchang that uses true Rahu can place the ingress on the 5th instead of the 6th. For a muhurat on the boundary, take the panchang your priest uses. For planning a season, the first week of December is the honest precision.
What the new axis points at
Rahu amplifies the sign it occupies and makes that sign hard to feel finished with. Capricorn is Saturn’s sign: office, rank, the long project, the public record, the cold decision. Rahu there tends to inflate ambition and the fear of being ordinary. People take a title that costs them the evening. Institutions that were dull become strangely magnetic. The risk is mistaking visibility for a vocation.
Ketu occupies Karka, the seventh sign from Rahu, as it always does. Ketu thins interest. Karka’s topics are the home, the mother, the private mood, the kitchen politics of a family. Ketu in Karka often shows up as a house that still runs, and a feeling of being slightly absent from it. The person who used to hold the room gets quieter. Read that as a prompt to notice who carries the emotional labour while Makara is being chased. It is not a prediction about a mother’s health.
From 25 January 2027, Jupiter backs into Cancer and shares that sign with Ketu. An exalted Guru sitting with Ketu is a different chapter from Ketu alone, and it is written in Jupiter’s return to Cancer. Until that date, Ketu in Cancer does not have Jupiter’s company.
The house, counted from the Moon
Rahu’s house is the house Capricorn falls in, counted from your natal Moon. Ketu is seven signs away, always.
| Moon sign | Rahu in Capricorn | Ketu in Cancer |
|---|---|---|
| Mesha (Aries) | 10th | 4th |
| Vrishabha (Taurus) | 9th | 3rd |
| Mithuna (Gemini) | 8th | 2nd |
| Karka (Cancer) | 7th | 1st |
| Simha (Leo) | 6th | 12th |
| Kanya (Virgo) | 5th | 11th |
| Tula (Libra) | 4th | 10th |
| Vrischika (Scorpio) | 3rd | 9th |
| Dhanu (Sagittarius) | 2nd | 8th |
| Makara (Capricorn) | 1st | 7th |
| Kumbha (Aquarius) | 12th | 6th |
| Meena (Pisces) | 11th | 5th |
Capricorn Moon meets Rahu on the Moon itself: identity gets ambitious and a bit foreign to the person living it. Cancer Moon meets Ketu on the Moon and Rahu in the 7th: the private self goes quiet while partnership and the public contract get loud. Aquarius Moon, which has had Rahu on the Moon during the Aquarius–Leo axis, gets a reprieve from that particular pressure and picks up the 12th instead: sleep, foreign stays, expenses that do not announce themselves. That handoff, around the first week of December, is the thing an Aquarius Moon will feel even if nothing else on this table seems personal.
A table is geometry. An event still needs a Dasha. Rahu mahadasha, or an antardasha of the lord of the house Rahu has just entered, is when this ingress becomes a chapter rather than a headline.
This is not Kaal Sarp Dosha
Kaal Sarp is a natal pattern: all seven planets on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis in the birth chart. A transit of the nodes does not put Kaal Sarp into a chart that did not have it, and it does not remove it from a chart that did. If a website told you that December 2026 “activates Kaal Sarp for everyone,” it collapsed two different ideas into one scary phrase. Check the birth chart. The condition, if it is there, is already there. The page that explains the natal pattern is Kaal Sarp Dosha.
October’s sky, for contrast, is still Rahu in Aquarius and Ketu in Leo. Jupiter joins that Leo on 31 October and then turns back, which is why the autumn feels noisy around status and children and authority. The December ingress moves the noise. The autumn account is the October 2026 transit calendar.
Before you quit a job or a household role because Rahu is about to change signs, look at the house in a free Kundli and at whether Rahu’s period, or that house lord’s period, is actually running in a Vimshottari Dasha analysis. Eighteen months is long enough to be real and short enough to be misread from a single week of anxiety. If the decision is a marriage or a parent’s care, talk to a Vedic astrologer with the birth time.
Questions people keep asking
When does Rahu enter Capricorn in 2026?
Around 5–6 December 2026, sidereal, Lahiri. Ketu enters Cancer at the same moment. Through October and November, Rahu remains in Aquarius.
How long does Rahu stay in Capricorn?
About eighteen months, which is the nodes’ usual stay in a sign. The exact exit belongs to the next nodal ingress, not to a monthly horoscope.
Does Rahu in Capricorn mean career success?
It means career and status get louder, especially if Capricorn is your 10th from the Moon or the lagna. Louder includes overwork and a title that costs more than it pays. The result still depends on Saturn, the 10th lord, and the Dasha.
Is everyone getting Kaal Sarp in December?
No. Kaal Sarp is judged in the birth chart. A transit of Rahu and Ketu is a different fact.
